General
appearance
Aidi is a
medium sized dog, belonging to the so-called. Molossians mountain type. He's
strong, well muscled and seems always alert and attentive. His thick coat,
resembling sheep's wool, it provides protection against heat, cold and sunlight
in the Moroccan Atlas mountains. Aidi in his own country is usually copied
ears.
Robe
Moderately
long hair, neck and tail is more hairy. The coat is designed to protect the dog
from the cold, rain, and attacks by wild animals.
Ointment
The white
coat is the most desirable. There are also pale gray, cream with gray patches
and flecks of black and white.
The history
of the breed
Aidi comes
from Morocco, and the date of its creation is determined by the eleventh
century is probably a descendant of the large Asian herding dogs, closely
related to mountain dogs from Eastern Europe. He has the instinct to hunt, to
defend their possessions in remote Bedouin villages and encampments in the
Atlas Mountains, and entrusted to the care of their flocks of goats and sheep.
Historically, Aidi was also used as a leash, working closely with the
greyhounds. Search for and exhibited animals, which then raced fast Sloughi.
Currently
Aidi is a very rare breed. We can meet him mainly in Morocco, where he still
protects property and herds of animals, as well as in France.
Temperament
Aidi is a
strong, agile, alert, always ready to work the dog, having the typical
characteristics of a shepherd dog. It is independent and has a very strong
instinct to defend its territory, and therefore is a reliable guardian of his
master's possessions. Totally not tolerate strangers on their territory, to
which is "bad" and aggressive. For centuries, Aidi was raised to its
utility and is therefore not recommended for this dog home life. Tolerates children,
but certainly not a dog nanny, so it is recommended only for home with older
children. Aidi is dominant over foreign dogs, to which is also very aggressive.
Due to the hunting instinct is still strong, is not recommended for home with
other small animals.
Health
Problems
This is an
extremely healthy breed with only isolated cases of hip dysplasia. Lack of
sufficient amount of exercise can lead to obesity.
Care
Aidi
requires the average number of treatments. His fur should be regularly brushed
weekly to prevent the formation of kudłów. During molting combing should be
done every day.
The ideal
home
Aidi is not
recommended for city life. It is, admittedly, not very active inside, but we
absolutely need the space. It is vital to the house, with at least medium-sized,
well-protected plot, located in rural or suburban. With dense coat Aidi can
live year-round outdoors in a well-insulated doghouse.
Activity
The house
retains a very quiet, but absolutely requires a lengthy stay in the territory
of which he could watch. Satisfied with the average amount of exercise. This is
not a dog for people with a flair for sports, because Aidi doing only what it
considers reasonable. Ideal for people who can leave him to guard a large,
well-fenced area.
Education
It's a dog
just for the person or family with experience in breeding sheep dogs. Aidi is
very independent and stubborn, and he can dominate, therefore requires
consistent training. Puppies need to socialize intensely, that is accustomed to
the environment, other dogs, people and land. Aidi has a very strong sense of
hierarchy of the herd, so the guardian must be a firm, which has natural
authority.
